Zoe

Below you can find a video of Zoe, on of the two girls that are still available. From experience I can say that the darker the puppy, the longer it will take him or her to find a home. This is because the features of a dark brindled Whippet don't stand out as much as in other colors, and the video is proof of this ;) Zoe is a big and very calm girl. In this video you can see a lot of socialization with aunt Ada, who takes over the upbringing of the puppies once mommy got sick of her puppies! If you have never seen adult dogs of the pack play with puppies then you may be alarmed at first, but let me assure you that this is absolutely normal and healthy for the dogs social development.

Little Harry

We have now started to rotate the puppies in the morning. This means that every puppy gets to spend 10 - 20 minutes with us in the mornings and evenings. With an average time of 15 minutes and a total of 11 puppies, you can easily do your math and figure that this is very time consuming. However, we believe that giving each puppy regular individual attention is crucial to the making of a sound mind. We are very consistent in the way we raise our puppies and have continued for years to raise them with plenty of interaction with the two and four legged members of our family.

Here you can see Little Harry, who is the favorite puppy of my children. Harry is the smallest puppy of the litter and such a kind and very very gentle soul, as you can see in this video. He has a healthy curiosity without getting himself overly excited or nervous.

Please be prepared for sneezers and toddler screaming in the videos :)

4 weeks old

The puppies are 4 weeks old and it was about time to add new single shots. While some puppies enjoyed the camera, some did not. Some puppies are nervous while some are just too playful to take decent pictures. I was planning to take individual videos tomorrow so stay tuned. P.S.: the pictures of Olivia have disappeared from the camera so there are none of her, unfortunately. I think I may have to make up for this with a puppy skype session.

Rosie (girl)
Call her princess Rosie! Rosie is a small but feisty girl that
can not be convinced to do something, but you will have to bow
in front of her and hope for her good favor! She is a sweet and
energy loaded bouncy ball that loves to give wet puppy kisses.

Duke (boy)
Duke is stunningly handsome and a gentle soul. He likes
the touch of the human hand and would push against it to demand more.

Emma (SOLD)
Emma's blue brindle is finally showing through nicely.
Emma is a big girl with a kind and gentle soul. She will only
move if it is absolutely required, but be the first one to notice when
I show up at the puppy run.

Zoe (girl)
Zoe is an average sized girl with a very well balanced
personality. She is active but not bouncy, laid back but not lazy.
Zoe enjoys having her ears rubbed!

(little) Harry (boy)
Little Harry is a small and very gentle boy with a huge tongue!
He loves to go on expeditions in the yard, and always manages
to sleep on top of the Whippet pile although he is the smallest. Smart!

Cowboy (SOLD)
Cowboy seems to have a very well balanced character
and laid back demeanor. He is incredibly pretty and very
playful with his litter mates and my children.

Maggie (SOLD)
Maggie loves to discover every single corner of the puppy run
and our home when she is allowed to roam freely. She is gentle
and very forgiving.

Chloe (SOLD)
Chloe is a very playful puppy, regardless of the size or species
she is currently playing with. Her favorite partner in crime is Rosie,
and together they bounce around the puppy run.

Gus (boy)
Gus is a big bear with a gentle and loving soul! He spends a lot
of time snuggling with Emma, and even allows the smaller puppies
to continuously pull on his ear.

Jack (boy)
Jack will one day make a great running partner to someone!
He pays a lot of attention to his surroundings and is ready for
action in less than a second. Obviously he doesn't like the camera,
so I had to hold him still on my arms.

Duke, Gus and Jack

I found Duke, Gus and Jack playing today in their new big boy/girl run while the other puppies tried to sleep. I took the opportunity to take some quick snapshots of them. Aren't they stunning?

And a few pictures

Enjoying the morning outside!

For the very first time since they were born the puppies went outside today for some fresh air, sun and new impressions. Some liked it, some not so much. They all received their first plate of puppy milk so they can learn how to lick up fluids in preparation to the "big move". Next week the puppies will go to their very own run with water, food, potty, nest and plenty of room to run around.

When they are awake...

While this energy never lasts for more than1 minutes, it is always a joy to watch when they are awake and playful. A lot is going to happen this week as we transition the puppies into their run and install their potty area. I was also planning to take new pictures one of these days.

First video

While we cleaned the puppies nest today we placed them in one of the smaller kennels, so we can properly sanitize their nest and let it dry. My son took the opportunity to give them some snuggles (he likes to carry them in the cradle hold). I took this short video and had to put some music over it, because you wouldn't believe how much my son can talk in such a short video....

Visit us
We don't mind if you stop by and take a look at the litter, as soon as they are 2 weeks old. If you let me know which time you will be here, I will have freshly brewed coffee ready! Please know that you will have to remove your shoes upon entry of our home, as well as you will have to disinfect your hands.

Reservations
If you want to reserve one of our puppies, we need a down payment of $300. The rest of the purchase price has to be paid 2 weeks prior to pick-up/shipping. This makes them 5 weeks +7 days old. We do not "hold" puppies. Since the down-payment is non-refundable and a commitment to purchase, please be 100% sure that you are not going to change your mind about which puppy you want. If you are unsure, just give it a couple more days or weeks, observe how their coats are changing and their overall appearance. You can always contact us and we will be more than happy to help you making the right choice for you and your family!

Payment methods
We prefer checks, but also accept paypal as well as cash.

Pick-up/shipping
The puppy has to be at least 8 weeks plus 1 day of age before he or she goes to the new home. If a puppy seems to need a few more days with us, you will have to wait. The health of the puppies is always our biggest concern, we hope you can understand and accept that. Your puppy can be picked up at our home.
We have a lot experience in shipping our puppies all over the US. We know that a lot of people are concerned about "shipping a live animal", but let me assure you that all our puppies always got to their destination without issues. Some puppies had to travel as far as to the west coast, and they were happy and healthy once their new owners welcomed them.

If you wish to have your puppy shipped, the fee will be $300 which includes the airline approved flight kennel with food bowls. We do not rent kennels from the airline, so the kennel is yours to keep. We will ship the puppy to the closest available airport on the fastest route and connections. Our puppies fly with DELTA AIRLINES.

Last but not least I want to say a few words about puppy SCAMS and online puppy buying...

I understand that buying a puppy online is a scary endeavor for most of you, especially if you have never done it before. Unfortunately, the Whippet can be a rare find here in the United States and there are almost always a whole bunch of miles between you and the puppy of your choice. Scams on the internet have people pay down payments for puppies who never arrive, or probably don't even exist. I want to assure you that we are not a scam. We are real and so are our puppies.
It is important to us that you know WHO WE are, just as we want to know WHO YOU are. In 2013 I therefore started to keep this blog constantly updated on the litter and the individual puppies. This blog will provide you with hundreds of pictures, videos, funny stories and important information about our litter. And I already mentioned earlier that visitors are always welcome, and I don't mind long conversations on the phone if it helps you to feel confident with your decision on a purchase.

Our well kept secret!

Almost two weeks ago, on July 28th, Moneypenny blessed us with 11 healthy and strong puppies. We have 5 stunning boys and 6 beautiful girls, quite a few of them in varieties of fawn and black brindle! We have kept this litter a secret for this long because the original litter size was 14, and we have lost 3 to what was an unknown cause when it happened. We needed to run some tests on the fading as well as the healthy puppies in order to figure out the cause, and to ensure the health and quality of those who remain. I want to thank Dogwood Emergency Veterinarian Clinic in Richmond VA for the outstanding care they have provided during thunder, lightning and pouring rain... in the parking lot out of back of my SUV. They were concerned about exposing those day old puppies to the germs and bacterias of their office, and sent a whole medical emergency team and equipment to ensure the safety and health of our precious puppies. The results confirmed that those puppies who faded have not received enough blood and nutrition in utero due to the large litter size (the average for a Whippet is 6), which resulted in a premature metabolism. For short, the puppies have been unable to receive as much sugar as they needed, which resulted in congenital issues and uneven breathing patterns. Although we have been incredibly sad and almost depressed to lose those puppies, we are relieved that those 11 that remain have not been affected by this. All breeders with a decent amount of whelpings under their belt are used to the fact that some puppies won't make it, are born immature, weak, or that a virus will invade the whole litter. We have mostly been spared from those experiences since our mortality rate of puppies is incredibly low, which as a result left us completely unprepared as to how we could accept the death of 3 puppies within a matter of days.

Anyway, to cheer this post up a little you can find the puppies below. I am planning to list them online tomorrow (if my children let me...).
